Biffy Clyro have won the award for best British band at last night’s NME Awards.

Front man Simon Neil said "I think this might be our fifth NME Award," singer Simon Neil told us backstage," "which is great "No doubt the finger will fall off this award later like it has done every previous time," he joked. "But that's part of the fun - we play 'find the finger'

Elsewhere Metallica won Best International Band and Supersonic the film covering Oasis won Best Music Film.

The villain of the year award went to Nigel Farage, needless to say he wasn’t there to collect his award. The short list also featured Donald Trump, David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Katie Hopkins.
